Fowler explained that the reaction was triggered by a chicken curry containing cashew nuts, despite his repeated warnings to the Emirates flight attendant about his severe nut allergy. “I can’t believe I’m having to post this. People should be aware of the severity of food allergies and the complete negligence from Emirates airline,” Fowler began in his post. He recounted how he informed the flight attendant twice about his allergy before being served the meal.

Upon receiving the meal, Fowler sought reassurance from the attendant, who confirmed it was nut-free. However, moments after consuming the dish, Fowler’s throat began to close, and breathing became difficult. A friend demanded the in-flight menu, revealing the chicken curry did contain cashew nuts.

“This left me with the real possibility of dying on the plane,” Fowler wrote. He described receiving oxygen tanks and administering his EpiPen. Fowler told the flight supervisor, “If you don’t land this plane soon, I will die on this plane,” prompting the pilot to expedite the journey.

Upon landing, Fowler was rushed to Dubai International Airport Hospital for further treatment. He criticised Emirates for their negligence, urging airlines to take food allergies seriously. “Giving a passenger food which they’ve stated TWICE will cause extreme harm is unacceptable,” he stated.

Fowler shared a video of himself using the EpiPen, visibly distressed, and other images documenting his ordeal. One photo showed him with an oxygen mask, another depicted him in the airport terminal receiving medical attention, and another showed him lying in a hospital bed. A close-up of the “creamy chicken curry with cashew nuts” was also included.

This isn’t Fowler’s first encounter with severe allergic reactions on flights. In 2023, he called out Qatar Airways after being served ice cream containing nuts, despite multiple reminders of his allergy. His post highlighted similar failures by Qatar Airways, where he was served nuts twice, endangering his life.
