If you are someone who flies frequently, chances are that you already are a member of the Airlines Loyalty Programmes. After all, the points that you earn by being a member grants you a host of benefits that may differ from one airline to the other. However, did you know that exclusive access to lounges and class upgrades are some of the most attractive elements of these loyalty programmes for members? Well, this is the case according to a recent survey. Here’s all about it.
Lounge Access & Cabin Class Upgrades Are Top Advantages Of ALP According To Members
According to a recent survey by IB Software in partnership with YouGov, it was revealed that members of the Airline Loyalty Programmes feel lounge access, cabin class upgrades, and travel discounts as the top advantages of membership. However, the survey also revealed that as many as 58% of the members were not clear about where they can use their points and about the perceived benefits of ALP schemes. As such, most are even unaware of the value of their points! Yes, this includes as many as 56% of the respondents who seem to have admitted that they were unaware of the financial value that they have earned through the loyalty programmes. Not to mention, this figure jumps to 64% in the case of the UAE and Singapore!

This Survey Showed That 63% Were Members Of At Least 2 Airline Programmes
As it happens, 63% of the total respondents were members of at least two airline programmes. It should be mentioned that this happens to be an inaugural survey that has been centred around ALP in the key travel centres across the Asia Pacific region. In fact, the survey was conducted amongst air passengers, which included both leisure and business travellers from Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore, who have travelled by air in the last 18 months. Moreover, the study polled 1500 travellers from the aforementioned destinations. The survey also highlighted that around 37% of the respondents have never been a member of any loyalty programme or are those whose memberships have lapsed. And the main reason cited for this is not flying frequently enough.
On a concluding note, it should be mentioned that the respondents from Dubai who were non-members were the most willing to try an ALP!
