Trinamool Congress or TMC Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra sparked discussion on social media after publicising her complaint about spoilt ice cream delivered by Swiggy, one of the biggest food-delivery platforms in India. The politician, who is 50 years old as of now, ordered a total of ten Minus Thirty mini ice cream sticks, costing ₹1,220, but found them inedible upon delivery. She took to social media to complain and the people on the Internet had opinions about it.

Mahua Moitra Demands Refund For Spoilt Ice Cream

“Sorry Swiggy – you’ve got to up your game. Unacceptable that I ordered expensive Minus Thirty mini sticks ice cream & it arrives spoilt and inedible. Expecting a refund or replacement asap,” Moitra posted at 10:15 pm on January 16, 2025.

Swiggy’s customer service team promptly responded, requesting her order details. The incident sparked humorous reactions from social media users, who referenced her previous controversies, including a much-discussed expensive handbag from 2023.

Moitra joined in the banter, quipping that her ice creams were “Hermes flavour with Bobbi Brown topping.” However, she faced some trolling on X (formerly known as Twitter) as well but she stood her ground arguing against the mindset that public representatives shouldn’t behave like ordinary citizens.

This Is How Netizens Reacted To The Post By The MP

Moitra addressed the criticism directly. “Just because I am an MP doesn’t mean I am not a normal person who orders food online,” she responded to one critic. The incident triggered a broader dialogue about customer service in food delivery platforms.

Many users shared their own experiences with frozen food deliveries, particularly regarding Minus Thirty products. One user commented on facing similar issues twice with the brand, whilst another advised against ordering easily meltable items unless the dark store is nearby and traffic conditions are favourable.

The episode highlighted both the challenges of delivering frozen products in India and the expectations of customer service from food delivery platforms, regardless of the customer’s public profile.
