The very first tribal museum in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, it is being reopened after a magnificent revamp. The revamp cost around a whopping ₹33 crores. Madhya Pradesh Reopens Its Very First Tribal Museum
According to an article which was recently published by ETV Bharat, this particular museum will reopen on Friday, November 15, 2024. If reports are to go by, it will be virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi.
The museum is renovated by the Tribal Research Institute or TRI in Bhopal for a whopping ₹33 crores. The entire establishment stretches across 9.75 acres. It has a total of 14 rooms in addition to four galleries.
The museum exhibits pieces from tribes such as Gond and Baiga as well as Bharia. It presents an excellent educational opportunity for children and grown-ups alike. Officials are hopeful about the prospect of this museum as a beacon showcasing the diversity of our country.
Other Important Details To Know About This Particular Museum
The museum was first established on April 20, 1954, but did not get its current name until 1997. The headquarters of the museum was moved to Shyamala Hills in 1965. However, the actual museum still remains in Chhindwara to this day.
The renovated museum demonstrates the government’s commitment to preserving the rich culture of India, even those that often go unnoticed and unsung. India has a rich and diverse history when it comes to tribes. This initiative is a commendable one.
