Attending the holy Maha Kumbh is an incredible experience. Surrounded by crores of devotees, it feels like finding peace amid everything going on. Lakhs of visitors are heading to Prayagraj to immerse in this devotional experience and IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers was also one of the devotees to visit Maha Kumbh. He penned a beautiful note and expressed his spiritual journey at the holy site.

On the grand occasion of Republic Day, Pieter travelled to Prayagraj to be a part of one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. He attended the historical mela to celebrate the confluence of India’s culture, spirituality, and heritage. The auspicious event is being hosted once in 144 years, making it a monumental occasion reflecting our traditions deeply rooted in Hindu culture.

Calling Maha Kumbh the “largest gathering of mankind on planet Earth”, Pieter exclaimed about the venue hosting around 450 million visitors in only 45 days, “similar to Europe’s population and more than the USA.” The government continues to take impeccable steps to organise something splendid and grand and the IndiGo CEO rightly described it as “The sheer scale is impossible to grasp.”

During his spiritual visit to Prayagraj, he took a holy dip at the Sangam at around 5 AM. Sharing his experience at the sacred confluence of rivers, he talked about being present with about a million devotees at the same time and finding an inexplicable peaceful moment in the chaos. Prayers, chants, devotion and the unity of humanity surrounded the breathtaking site.

Pieter explained his visit to Maha Kumbh depicting how words, sentences, or pictures are enough to describe the holy place or its energy properly. He is humbled and grateful to be a part of this divine experience. Attending the mela was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for him.

He also thanked the IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) team at Prayagraj airport for their incredible work during this peak time reporting a significant footfall every day.
