There is arguably no other festival in India, or even the entire world for that matter, that happens on a larger scale than the Mahakumbh Mela. It is widely considered to be the largest religious gathering in the world and happens once every three years. The next one is slated to happen in January and February 2025. As part of the mela, the city of Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) is hosting a bird festival.
Mahakumbh 2025: Prayagraj To Host Bird Festival During It
According to an article which was recently published by CNBC TV18, this particular bird festival will go on for two consecutive days. The announcement regarding the same was made on Saturday, November 9, 2024, by an official.
The telos of this bird festival is to allow festival-goers to truly connect with nature. The theme of the festival is ‘Kumbh’s faith, conservation of nature and climate.’ As per DFO Arvind Kumar cited in the CNBC TV18 article, a proposal has already been sent to the government.
The proposal provides information about the biodiversity in the sanctuaries situated in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. There are as many as 90 bird species in the city of Prayagraj alone. Hence, the two-day festival is the perfect event for amateur bird aficionados and seasoned ornithologists alike.
What Else Can You Expect From The Event In Kumbh?
The city has planned a number of discussions on related topics by national as well as International experts. In addition to this, educational institutions as well as students will also be invited to the event. What is more, a photo exhibition is also planned.
Given the magnitude of the festival, officials are gearing up for safety and security. If reports are to go by, the festival will have a number of Facial Recognition or FR cameras in order to ensure the safety of the festival-goers.
