Heavy rains have triggered floods in several areas of Maharashtra, with the Marathwada region being one of the worst affected. The flooding has claimed eight lives and caused widespread damage. Large tracts of farmland and livestock have been submerged, severely impacting local communities. Rescue operations are currently underway to provide relief to those affected.
Maharashtra Floods Claim 8 Lives

According to Hindustan Times, the incessant flooding in Maharashtra has claimed eight lives and left hundreds stranded in floodwaters. Since Tuesday, the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has worked extensively to save 320 people in four districts of Marathwada–Dharashiv, Beed, Ahilyanagar and Solapur. They are working to provide immediate assistance in the affected areas.
While Marathawada is the worst affected, parts of Vidarbha and western Maharashtra regions have also been affected due to heavy rainfall. Helicopters have also been deployed to assist the NDRF team in evacuating flood-affected locals in Maharashtra. Along with the human toll, the floods have also led to the death of around 150 cattle, adding to the distress of farmers already grappling with extensive crop and farmland damage.
As per The Times of India, Dharashiv witnessed the highest rainfall in the Marathwada area at 64 mm. Beed reported 48 mm of rain, while Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded 30 mm and 26 mm, respectively. The highest rainfall was reported in Apegaon at 166 mm, Paithan observed 157 mm, and Vihamandwa recorded 127 mm of rain in the last couple of days.

State Govt. Approves Relief Package For 19.22 Lakh Affected Farmers
On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government approved a ₹2,215 crore relief package for 31,64,000 affected farmers. This relief fund will help those who lost their lands to the floods, as in the last two days, almost 555,410 acres of farmland became submerged in the Marathwada region. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed his officials to ensure that the approved funds are deposited into the affected farmers’ bank accounts as soon as possible.

Relief efforts are ongoing, with rescue teams assuring that every measure is being taken to safeguard lives and restore normalcy at the earliest.
