Mumbai Metro Lines 2B & 9 To Begin Partial Operations From April 3; Check Routes & Other Deets

Attention Mumbai commuters, this is important. Portions of Mumbai Metro Line 2B and Metro Line 9 are now all set to begin partial operations from April 3, 2026. This will bring much-needed metro connectivity to several key city and suburban areas, making commuting a lot easier and faster for Mumbaikars!

Partial Operations Of Mumbai Metro Line 2B & Line 9 To Begin 

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to start partial operations on Line 9 and Line 2B of the Mumbai Metro. According to The Financial Express, these new metro lines will significantly cut travel time for commuters by connecting major areas in the city. Apart from that, MMRDA will also do the Bhoomipujan for the BKC Pod Taxi project and launch the tunnel boring machine for the Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project on April 3.

All these projects aim to significantly improve connectivity in Mumbai and make commuting easier and faster for thousands of people in the city. We are already excited for these projects, especially the two metro lines that will finally begin operations.

Line 9 & Line 2B To Improve Daily Commute

According to The Financial Express, Mumbai Metro Line 9 is a 13.581 km long corridor connecting Andheri to CSIA and Dahisar to Mira Bhayander. Once operational, the corridor will cut travel time by 50%-75%. Moreover, Line 9 will also provide direct interconnectivity to the Western Express Highway, Western Railway, and Metro Lines 2A and 7.

Talking about Mumbai Metro Line 2B, it is a 23.643 km-long corridor that will connect DN Nagar and Mandale. This metro line is expected to improve the daily commute by connecting eastern and western suburban Mumbai. This line will also provide direct interconnectivity to Metro lines 2A, 4, and 3.
