March 8 marks the auspicious celebration of Mahashivratri this year. Devotees all across India and abroad are celebrating the festival with devotion. Ahead of the grand celebrations, the Karnataka government stated some special puja rituals for state-run Shiva temples in Karnataka on this sacred day. Shivratri Celebrations In Karnataka’s Shiva Temples
According to a report by News 18, the Karnataka government mentioned celebrating special pujas. The recently released circular asked the Shiva temples in the state to perform special pujas, Rudrabhisheka, and Rudra Homa. This devotional day is getting celebrated with grandeur, pomp, and glory everywhere.
Apart from the special pujas at the temples in Karnataka, more grand preparations are also going on for the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. These religious places are likely to host some beautiful art shows like Kolaata and Gombeyaata, according to a report by the Deccan Herald. But organsing all these is on the basis of artists and their availability at that moment.
In fact, Shiva temples might even host more spectacular art forms and shows such as Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, Dollu Kunita, recitals, plays of Lord Shiva, and more. Preparations for splendid celebrations of Mahashivratri are ongoing everywhere. Devotees are fasting all day before pouring milk or water to Lord Shiva.
Celebrating The Sacred Day On Friday!
The devotional occasion of Shivratri is believed to be the day of celebrating the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This day is marked as the auspicious day of their union. The Chaturdashi Tithi of this significant Hindu festival is starting at 9:57 PM on March 8. Devotees are observing fast before they sit for puja at night.
While some devotees eat some fruits while fasting, some even observe nirjala vrat and do not consume anything before worshipping and offering prayers to Lord Shiva on the sacred occasion of Shivratri. They also offer and pour milk with ghee and honey to Shivalinga. Later, they break fast with prasad. Many often eat soaked sabudana, milk, and fruits at night.
