Major General GD Bakshi Spoke About The Bond Between Soldiers
Curious to know about his days in the army, we asked him if the bond between two soldiers is the same as between two friends who spend a lot of time together, or is it different? Retired Major General GD Bakshi shared that there is nothing like the bond between two soldiers of a regiment, and it is the most beautiful thing about the army.
He shared that this feeling of camaraderie and always being there for each other comes from dependence on each other. He mentioned that a good regiment never leaves its dead or wounded behind, so you know if you are ever wounded, your friend is going to carry you on his back and walk 10 km back to the camp, and you would do the same for him if he were injured.
And nothing brings you closer than that. He even shared a hilarious incident with us where his father-in-law saw this unique relationship between him and his batchmate first-hand. While his father-in-law was already there, even before the friend entered the house, he had started yelling his name, calling him out, and when they met, they were jumping around, hugging each other very loudly, leaving his father-in-law really surprised.
The Power Of Unity In Tough Times
In this episode, Major General GD Bakshi also spoke about the power of unity, especially in a period of tension in the country. He said that in usual times, there is a ruling party and then there’s an opposition party, and it’s the opposition’s job to oppose the ruling party. However, in crucial times, it is important for everyone to let go of everything else and stand in solidarity as a united nation. He shared that this time, most of the opposition played their role well; however, there were some who did not.
In this episode, he also shared his experience of meeting Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw for the very first time. To know how it went, watch the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel
