Make A Wood-Fired Oven At Home In Just 15 Minutes
What You Need: –
– 42 firebricks (standard size)
– Three stone slabs (hamam stones or similar, 18″ × 26″ × 2″)
– Level surface for construction
Step-By-Step Guide: –
- Foundation
Create a completely level base using one stone slab. Check with a spirit level to ensure perfect stability, as this forms the crucial foundation of your oven.
- Lower Chamber Construction
First layer: Position six firebricks to form a rectangular outline.
Second layer: Add seven firebricks, slightly offset for stability.
Third layer: Place six firebricks, matching the first layer.
Fourth layer: Add seven firebricks, matching the second layer.
Important: Incorporate a ventilation opening on one side.
- Cooking Surface Installation
Place the second stone slab atop the brick structure. This forms your cooking surface.
- Upper Chamber Assembly
Repeat the brick-stacking pattern as needed for the desired height. Maintain the ventilation alignment throughout. Ensure sufficient space for heat circulation. Top with the final stone slab as the roof.
- Initial Firing
Begin with a small fire using kindling. Gradually increase the fire’s intensity. Allow several hours for proper curing. Monitor for any structural issues.
