MakeMyTrip Launches New “Multi-Currency” Feature; You Can Now Make Payments In Currencies Like Euro, USD And More

Payments can occasionally be problematic when making a hotel or airline reservation, especially when using different currencies. However, this issue has been resolved by MakeMyTrip. A multi-currency payment option has been added by online travel agency MakeMyTrip to improve the experience of its international customers. The company said in its press release that this action follows its compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which permits access to its platform in more than 150 countries.

The Bahraini Dinar, British Pound Sterling, Canadian Dollar, Danish Krone, EU Euro, Hong Kong Dollar, Indian Rupee, Japanese Yen, Kuwaiti Dinar, New Zealand Dollar, Qatari Riyal, Russian Ruble, Saudi Riyal, Singapore Dollar, South African Rand, South Korean Won, Thai Baht, UAE Dirham, and US Dollar, can now be used to pay for travel and hotel reservations thanks to the multi-currency feature.

Travel planning will be made easier for both Indian diaspora members and foreign visitors thanks to the payment option, which will link foreign visitors to MakeMyTrip’s lodging network in more than 2,100 Indian cities.

In order to reduce conversion problems, this initiative sought to expedite transactions and guarantee that travellers receive refunds and coupons in the same currency they used to make their purchases. As tourism recovers from the pandemic, MakeMyTrip intends to increase its foreign travel function, which could help India’s inbound tourist growth.

As reported by Business Standard, despite the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, MakeMyTrip Ltd. produced $782 million (approx. ₹65.92 billion) in income in India in FY24, mostly from hotels and packages, according to Statista.
