People living abroad miss their ghar and families in India a little more during special celebrations and occasions. Independence Day is one of those days when NRIs get nostalgic feeling a sense of pride for their motherland. This day evokes many emotions and reminds them of a sacred connection with their roots, culture, history, and heritage.
Ahead of India’s 78th Independence Day, MakeMyTrip partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to introduce a one-of-a-kind campaign. Named ‘India: The Homecoming’, this special initiative was launched on the eve of Independence Day. It aims to invite and welcome all Indians living in different parts of the world to visit their homeland. It is a call for the Indian diaspora to travel to India and rediscover and explore its magnificence.
Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism & Culture, mentioned the significance of India: The Homecoming and shared how it empowers the Indian diaspora to become Incredible India Ambassadors through the Chalo India initiative. He also added, “We call upon Indian diaspora across the globe to take a trip back home, and experience Incredible India in all its richness.”
Rajesh Magow, MakeMyTrip Co-founder & Group CEO, shared the company’s excitement to launch the campaign aiming to invite the Indian diaspora to witness a transformed India. He shared that this wonderful initiative celebrates the beautiful connection every Indian, no matter where they are, shares with their homeland.
There Is A Great Film Dedicated To The Campaign
An online film has been curated showcasing India’s transformation. Veteran lyricist Gulzar Saab created this masterpiece with his words and voice. It conveys a beautiful message, “कितना हुआ है इन दिनों बदलाओ तो देखो, तुम अपने घर में लौट कर आओ तो देखो” (kitna hua hai in dino badlaav to dekho, tum aapne ghar mein laut kar aao to dekho).
