Malavika Mohanan Avoids Eating This Fish

Malavika Mohanan

Perhaps no one loves seafood as much as Malavika Mohanan. The actor known for her powerful performances in Maaran and Thangalaan, hails from Kerala and lives in Mumbai with her family. She recently invited our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani for a coastal homemade meal. While devouring fish, Malavika Mohanan revealed one type of fish she avoids eating because…

Malavika Mohanan Doesn’t Like Eating Fish With A Lot Of Bones

During the Sunday Brunch, Kamiya Jani feasted on a lavish platter of homemade delicacies from Kerala at Malavika Mohanan’s home. As she ate with her hands, Kamiya couldn’t have enough of the fried fish and fish curry. She called it delicious and observed that it had just one bone. Malavika told her it’s King Fish also known as Seer Fish or Anjal. “It’s not got any of the other time-pass bones,” said Malavika.

Kamiya laughed at the actor calling it “time-pass bones” and felt it was annoying to eat fish which had a lot of bones. Instead of eating, half of the time goes into removing the bones, feels the Thangalaan actor. Malavika told Kamiya about Kerala’s famous Mathi fish or sardines. The small fish has a lot of bones. “I find it very difficult to eat those (sardines) as they come in small sizes. More than the flesh that fish has a lot of bones.” So, Malavika avoids eating sardines as she spends a lot of time carefully removing the bones to avoid swallowing or hurting her mouth.

Malabar Biryani Or Sadya?

While playing ‘This or That’ food edition, Kamiya asked the actor to choose between Malabar Biryani or Sadya. She finds it to be hard to choose one. Malavika explains that Sadya is a traditional vegetarian meal from Kerala served on a banana leaf. It consists of small portions of 15-20 different types and is typically served at weddings or during auspicious occasions in the state. Despite describing Sadya in a salivating manner, she chose Malabar Biryani over it.
