Do you know the best way to relish homecooked Indian meals? It is surely by skipping using spoons, forks, or knives, and digging straight to the food and savouring with our palms. Feels too good, right? On this episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani savoured lip-smacking Malayali food at Malavika Mohanan’s beautiful home in Mumbai. Yummy food, loads of fun, spectacular vibes!

Malavika Mohanan And Kamiya Jani Enjoyed A Mouth-Watering Malayali Feast

Our guest invited Kamiya to her breathtakingly beautiful home in Andheri. Born in Kerala but raised in Mumbai, Malavika’s home opens doors to a homely ambience of Kerala’s rich culture. The elegant decor begins with a beautiful wooden panel and an auspicious corner with a Lord Ganesha murti. The actor described her home as “It’s an oasis of mini Kerala in the heart of Bombay.”

In this slice of Kerala amidst Mumbai’s bustle, Malavika and Kamiya relished a grand Sunday Brunch loaded with authentic dishes famous in the Malabar region — Kerala’s northern region. They indulged in a feast of Sambar, Kingfish Meen Curry, Fish Fry, Brown Rice, and Chicken Curry.

Though Malavika grew up and spent all her life in the bustling Mumbai city, she and her family lived a Malayali lifestyle at their home. Her parents ensured that she grew up in an atmosphere that sparks traditional aspects of Kerala. From speaking Malayali at home to indulging in local dishes, she is close to her culture. We love how their home has been decorated magnificently with wooden elements and minimal touches reflecting the old-school charm of a Malayali household.

Mumbai is home to uncountable restaurants serving different cuisines.
