Malaysia Airlines To Resume Direct Flights Between Kuala Lumpur And Kolkata

Starting December 2, Malaysia Airlines will resume operations between Kuala Lumpur and Kolkata. The airline will now operate five weekly flights with Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the Kuala Lumpur-Kolkata route. This new service is a significant step by Malaysia Airlines to boost its services in India.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the airline stopped direct flights to Kolkata in 2006. For now, it connects nine Indian cities directly to Kuala Lumpur: Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Amritsar, Trivandrum, and Ahmedabad.

As per Travel Trade Journal, these flights will be operational on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On these days, the flight will take off from Kuala Lumpur at 9:35 PM. For the return journey, the aircraft will depart from Kolkata at 12:10 AM.

Carrier To Now Offer 76 Weekly Flights Between India And Malaysia

Reportedly, with the resumption of Kuala Lumpur-Kolkata services, Malaysia Airlines will now be offering 76 weekly flights between India and Malaysia. Currently, it operates 71 weekly flights between the two countries. In August this year, the carrier increased its flight frequency to Amritsar from four per week to daily.

While talking about the recommencement of the route, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group told Hindustan Times that India is an important market for the airline. Furthermore, he mentioned that they are continually working to enhance their network and increase flight frequencies to bring the renowned Malaysia Airlines’ hospitality to the Indian market.
