Bengaluru Metro is a prominent public transportation source in the city. As thousands of people take the metro to commute to their destinations every day, there’s also a need to adhere to the rules in the Metro. Recently, a man, in his twenties was caught eating inside Bengaluru Metro. Here’s what happened next.

Man Filmed Eating Inside Bengaluru Metro

According to a report by The New Indian Express, Sunil Kumar, a lad in his twenties and his friends boarded the Bengaluru Metro. The group of men work at a well-known jewellery outlet in Jayanagar. Sunil Kumar and his friends regularly board the Metro at Sampige Road Station to commute to work.

In a 40-second video circulating on social media, Sunil Kumar is seen eating a bowl of what looks like Gobi Manchurian while he is seated in the metro. He smiles as he is enjoying his snack. His friend shooting the video jokes calling him “an uneducated fool” for eating inside the metro. In no time this incident caught the eyes of Metro Officials. Using the surveillance camera recording, Sunil Kumar was caught when he deboarded the station. And then charged a fine of  ₹500 for eating inside the metro.

Gets Detained & Fined For It

As per Bengaluru Metro rules is it illegal to consume food inside trains or on the Metro platforms. So, a report was filed against the offender at Jayanagar police station and he paid a fine of ₹500 for committing this offence. The executive director of operations & Maintenance, BMRCL, A S. Shankar, revealed to TNIE that this was a rare incident as commuters usually follow the metro rules. Apart from a ban on eating, metro-goers are also advised to use headphones or earphones inside the metro to consume content or listen to music without causing disturbance.

He further informed that Sunil Kumar and his friends deboarded the Metro train at 9:30 am on Tuesday from Jayanagar. And the incident of the man, eating inside the train didn’t go unnoticed. Security personnel observed this video across Metro stations. They took the group to the Jayanagar police station and even detained them for a day. Meanwhile the original viral video has been taken off the Internet.
