Harshad Topkar was travelling to Delhi from Dehradun via Vande Bharat Express recently. When he opened the container of yoghurt that was served on the train with the meal, he was left flabbergasted. He found a “greenish layer” that he suspected was “most probably fungus” in the yoghurt served to him. Harshad then took to X (formerly Twitter) to share this incident and shared pictures of it as well. He tagged all the concerned authorities on the tweet and expressed his disappointment in the service provided by the railways.
To the Indian Railways’ credit, they were quick to respond on this entire matter. In fact, within half an hour of the tweet, the Northern Railway and Railway Seva responded to it and asked the passenger for all his details.
@IRCTCofficial Kindly look into this matter.

Sir, our sincere apology for the inconvenience caused. The matter was immediately attended by onboard supervisor and replaced the curd immediately. Further, curd pack was within the expiry date. The issue is being raised with the manufacturer.

Netizens Share Their Two Cents On This Entire Incident
The post about the fungus-infested yoghurt on Vande Bharat has since gone viral. Netizens are questioning the quality of food served on the train and have commented about the same on the post.
Many complaints are coming from vande Bharat express regarding food. Strict actions must be taken against contractors. Such types of things damage the credibility of railway.

@IRCTCofficial How many times you will apologize railways service is going from bad to worse and fare are still increasing…Railways charge fare for 2nd AC and 1st AC thats equivalent to Airfares and still says we are subsidising it.

On the other hand, some people said it wasn’t a big deal as the passenger could have easily asked for another pack.
It’s OK. One or two case doesn’t make it bad. You saw it. Throw it and ask for other.

Have you check expiry date before eating ?
If it’s expire it’s on railways.
If it isn’t it’s on producer.You can’t know what’s inside packed material.

Was the pack open or damaged while it was served ?
