Online shopping has made the lives of many people quite convenient. There is hardly anyone these days who does not shop online. However, it can also be tricky since scammers are always finding creative ways to scam you. Recently, a man ordered an expensive smartphone from the online shopping giant Amazon and got tea cups instead. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this unfortunate situation.
Man Orders ₹55,000 Smartphone From Amazon & Gets Tea Cups
According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, the man is named Amar Chavan. He is 42 years old and is a resident of Mahim. Chavan is a deputy engineer at Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking or BEST.
He ordered a Tecno Phantom V Fold 5G from Amazon which cost him ₹55,000. On July 15, his order arrived but when he unpacked it, lo and behold! Instead of a smartphone, he found teacups inside! He tried calling customer service but Chavan claims they were unhelpful and reluctant to take heed of the situation.
As per his statement in the TOI article, Chavan called up customer service to complain but they did not get back to him until July 20. Even then, they said that they were helpless and did not show him the investigation report. Hence, he went ahead and filed a police complaint.
Complaint Filed Against The Online Shopping Giant
Chavan also claimed that the online shopping portal seemed uninterested in helping him out. He accused Amazon of cheating him. This incident follows close at the heels of another incident in Bengaluru when a woman ordered an X-Box controller but got a snake instead.
In yet another incident in Brazil, a woman ordered an air fryer but surprisingly, received a giant lizard in the box. These frequent incidents of parcels being misdelivered highlight the need for better checks at the company.
