A Reddit post titled, “Food Scam in Delhi is happening a lot and no one wants to respond or what??” has garnered a lot of attention online recently. The OP (@/Hopeful-Table-9125) shared a picture of a food bill of ₹17,983 and asked, “Where is the law in this city bro.. Or is it fine to keep my mouth shut 😞”

Now, if you’re wondering what the scam here is, then let us break it down for you. The man, not a native Delhiite, went on a date to a cafe named Urban Cafe in Malviya Nagar. The place was decided by the girl he matched with on a dating app. The place has good reviews online and has a decently priced menu. However, the bill at the end of the date shocked the OP. The most exorbitant item on the bill is mentioned as “Extra” and costs about ₹9,000. Another strange item is “Daimond” which added another ₹3,499 to the bill.

This case is similar to the ongoing dating app scam in Delhi. Many men online have complained about similar situations where they were asked to pay huge amounts at the end of the date.

As you can imagine, the internet has a lot to say in this matter. Many people pointed out the obvious spelling errors in the bill and menu and called it a scam in itself. While others asked him to file a police complaint. They also urged him to write reviews online to make more people aware of this scam. A lot of comments pointed out how the place has a 4.8 rating on Google and this is concerning as people usually trust such ratings while deciding on a place for a date. Here are some comments you cannot miss out on.
