‘Mardan Manesar’ is a new venture near Delhi serving the most delectable North-West frontier cuisine to visitors. This newly launched restaurant transports you to a dreamy world of royalty with their most delicious foods. Delhi has uncountable restaurants serving the yummiest foods to the crowd. But this restaurant at Heritage Village Resort and Spa, Maesar steal the show and how? Read on to know:

How Did The Place Get Its Name?

Interestingly, the name of the restaurant is derived from two different places and arranged together to name this royal place. The term ‘Mardan’ comes from a small town on the Northwest Frontier border of Pakistan. On the other hand, ‘Manesar’ is a place located in the valley of Peshwar which is also the second-largest city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The restaurant took the inspiration of the oh-so-delicious North-West Frontier cuisine from the neighboring regions of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Interestingly, they named their cocktail inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s poem, ‘Arithmetic on the Frontier’.

Must-Have Dishes From The North-West Frontier Cuisine’s Menu

Choosing a few dishes from their huge menu gets quite confusing at times. Our heart wants to taste it all but that is not the solution always. We have to think about our stomachs too, right? We have recently visited this place and blindly fell in love with each and everything that we relished! Here are some of our recommendations for the ‘must-haves’ from this appetising menu.

  • Masala Tandoori Prawns: If you are a prawn lover, then this is a must for you. Larger-sized prawns are nicely marinated and then slow-cooked in a clay oven for the spices to enter the prawns and bring out the most flavourful taste.
  • Mutton Seekh: The mouth-watering taste of mutton comes from its quality. Mardan Manesar uses the mutton from the Mewati goat in Haryana. People say that this is the topmost quality of mutton you will get in the state. And when this mutton is mixed with some flavourful spices and cooked in a clay oven, you won’t be able to resist gulping up one after the other.
  • Sikandri Raan: How can you indulge in North-West frontier cuisine and not have some raan? The serving of the Sikandari Raan of this place is an entire mutton leg.  The pieces are marinated nicely with a blend of Indian spices and are kept for two days. Later, those legs are cooked slowly till the meat melts and separate from the bone itself.
  • Murgh Khurchan: Don’t feel disheartened if you don’t like to eat mutton. Murgh Khurchan is the ultimate dish for you. Chicken pieces cooked with capsicum, onion, tomatoes, and lots of Indian spices. It is the perfect blend of spices and goes well with everything.
  • Nihari: Nothing can beat the heavenly taste of a good plate of Nihari and this restaurant is an expert in it.  They slowly cook the lamb along with bone marrow. The burst of flavours comes from the long pepper.

A Few Flatbreads From The Menu

  • Bakar Khani: A popular dish from the Mughlai cuisine, Bakar Khani is a thick flatbread with lots of spices.
  • Taftan: This is a specialty of Persian and Central Asian cuisine. Flour kneaded with milk, yogurt, and eggs, and then baked in a clay oven to prepare taftan.
  • Sheermal: You cannot leave the restaurant without tasting the Shreemal otherwise you will be doing a huge loss. The sheermal of this place is to absolutely die for. You can overindulge as much as you want to because there are no spices in this flatbread. An immensely popular food from greater Iran, Shreemal is made with lots and lots of dry fruits and their pastes giving a heavenly feeling to your taste buds

You surely need to give this place a try if you are near here sometime. This heritage resort and spa is worth every penny.

Shreya Ghosh: Shreya and her obsession with rom-coms and sitcoms are very real. Either procrastinating everything for weeks or wrapping it all up in just a weekend: the perfect way to sum up her.
