The Big Apple has a new recreational space that will, no doubt, delight the people of the area. Manhattan’s 1st public beach is finally open along the Hudson River. This beach is a dedicated space where visitors can sunbathe, relax, and enjoy the view. It is replete with facilities and features that are designed to entertain people with different interests and hobbies. Here is all you need to know about this new beach.
Manhattan Gets Its First Public Beach
New York City is home to some of the most iconic places in the world. But beaches were one thing it lacked. However, not anymore. Earlier this week, it inaugurated the first public beach in Manhattan. The inauguration was done by Eric Adams, who is the Mayor and Kathy Hochul, who is the Governor of New York.
This sunny new recreational space boasts around 1200 tonnes of sand, beach umbrellas and many other exciting activities designed to keep visitors engaged and entertained. It is a part of the Hudson River Park located in the Meatpacking District’s Gansevoort region.
The beach has a special misting area which will help visitors rinse off those annoying and clingy sand particles. It will also aid in cooling visitors down on the days when it’s too hot. It is important to note, however, that since the space is designed for sunbathing, swimming in water is not allowed.
About The Gansevoort Peninsula Park
The Hudson River Park or Gansevoort Peninsula is an amazing new recreational space for people in the New York City area. It cost around $73 million and stretches across 5.5 acres. In addition to Manhattan’s first beach, it has a host of other activities.
It has a large sports field where athletic people can play their favourite sport. It also has an access point to water for non-motorised boaters and kayakers. It even has a large picnic area with benches that provide a brilliant view of the Hudson River.
