We mostly associate success with monetary gains, don’t we? However, realistically, success doesn’t always mean having a fat bank balance. Our guest, Manoj Bajpayee, faced this situation when he achieved quick popularity and fame after the release of Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya (1988). He deserved all the love, fame and name after a spectacular performance as Bikhu. On this Sunday Brunch episode with our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, he revealed that signing the papers for his home took him a significant amount of time, even after the fame.

Manoj Bajpayee Purchased His Abode 6 Years After The Thriving Success Of Satya

Earlier in the episode, Manoj told us that he resided in a chawl in Andheri West, Mumbai, when he first shifted to the City of Dreams to pursue his career in acting. He shared a roof with almost 10 aspiring actors and directors for six months. From this congested situation to currently owning a lavish apartment in Lokhandwala, Andheri, it is certainly a successful journey!

While talking about success post-Satya’s release, Manoj admitted that he worked extremely hard and touched the skies with this movie, but there were no significant monetary gains for him. He was grateful for all the love, support and fame it got him, along with numerous offers for villainous roles. However, he didn’t want to be associated with negative characters and he rejected a few big film scripts because he wanted to experiment with his acting skills.

Then he revealed that he bought his first home after 6 years of Satya’s theatrical release. Manoj was determined to choose roles he was genuinely interested in rather than a hefty paycheck. He shared that the likeable roles he picked paid him ₹1 to ₹2 lakhs. Consequently, it took him some time to save up for a house and car.
