Massive Fire Breaks Out At Maha Kumbh Mela In Prayagraj After Gas Cylinder Explosion; No Injuries Reported

After 12 years, the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, has drawn millions of devotees to Prayagraj in 2025. This grand event is regarded as a beautiful melting ground of spirituality, devotion, and tradition. This event is marked by sacred dips in the holy rivers and a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates faith. But in the midst of all of this zeal, a shocking tragedy occurred today. Gas Cylinder Explosion Results In Fire Accident At Maha Kumbh

On Sunday evening, 2-3 gas cylinders exploded in the Sector 19 campsite area of the Maha Kumbh Mela. Tragically, it resulted in massive fire. Before the incident caused panic across the meal, the incident was swiftly handled by the authorities. According to the India Today reports, witnesses reported hearing loud explosions before seeing flames around at least 18 tents. The intense fire certainly disrupted the serene ambiance of the festival.

Thanks to quick and effective safety arrangements already in place, several fire tenders at the venue immediately reached the site. Firefighters and the local authorities worked tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also joined the rescue efforts. The joint effort from the teams made sure the fire was contained quickly.

Prayagraj Zone Additional Director General (ADG) Bhanu Bhaskar shared with India Today TV that all attendees were safe. Despite the explosion in two to three cylinders that caused a huge fire, he assured that everyone was safe and that no injuries had been reported. He also credited the effectiveness of the authorities.

Swift Response Saves Lives

As a precaution, authorities evacuated residents from nearby tents. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also went to the location to personally evaluate the situation and go over emergency procedures.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to further inform the public that a dedicated team of officials from the government and the health department were on-site to provide assistance. The official X handle of the Maha Kumbh 2025 also posted about the tragic fire accident that shook everyone.

Today’s fire accident highlights the importance of safety measures and coordination at such grand events.
