According to WION, the fire started after a device on the pollution control board at the facility centre in the temple complex caught fire. The sudden fire caused panic among the devotees and temple staff. People offering prayers were stopped and asked to step out of the temple premises immediately.
Some reports suggest that the fire erupted due to a blast in the solar panel battery, which was placed in the Pollution Control Board room of the complex. The fire, reportedly, broke out near ‘Shankh Dwar’ in the Mahakaleshwar Temple. The blaze was so massive that it was spotted from as far as 1 kilometre away from the temple.
