It’s been a busy week in the GCC region, and with there being so many developments, it can be a little difficult to keep up with all of them. 1. UAE Leaders Wish Hijri New Year

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan took to his social media accounts to wish everybody the Hijri New Year. This comes after the moon was sighted. For the unversed, this marks the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina.

2. Meraas Announces New Phase For City Walk Crestlane

Recently, Meraas announced a new phase for the City Walk Crestlane. A member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, they announced this waterside residential development. Launched earlier this year, the master plan includes 22 residential buildings featuring 2,625 residential units.

3. Dubai RTA Completes 3 Traffic Improvements In Business Bay

The Dubai RTA has completed three traffic improvements on Business Bay. This involved expanding and upgrading several locations on the road that connect to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. With the aim of improving the flow of traffic, the improvements are bound to make life easier for the residents.

4. Oman Issues Health Warnings As Temperatures Soar

As Oman records 48 degrees Celsius, people have been given health warnings. Oman Meteorology has asked people to avoid direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon, when the sun is directly overhead. This has been issued, as heat stroke and other related symptoms are quite common during this time.

5. Kaaba Kiswa Replaced For Hijri New Year

The new Kiswa has been unveiled for the Holy Kaaba for the first day of the Islamic New Year. The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque has continued with this tradition that has been upheld for over a century. The new Kiswa weighs 1,415 kilogrammes and features 47 intricately embroidered black silk panels.
