Meraki Chinese, a restaurant in Navi Mumbai has recently garnered a lot of flack from Netizens after a viral video showcasing a dirty kitchen took over social media. A video posted on Reddit, showed an enraged customer giving a kitchen tour and highlighting the dirt, grime and cockroaches lurking around in the corner. After the video went viral, Meraki Chinese took to its official Instagram handle to refute the claims and assure its customers of its quality standards.
Redditor Posts Video Of Unhygienic Kitchen Of Meraki Chinese
Posted on the r/navimumbai sub-Reddit by Redditor 13rememberme76, this video showed the kitchen of Meraki Chinese’s Sanpada outlet. The customer showed a cramped kitchen and highlighted the sauces and gravy strewn on the floor. The customer revealed in the video that he entered the kitchen after a poorly tasting dish was served to him. “Ekdum disgusting halat mein tha, kitchen,” he said.
With basins jammed with gravy, dustbins overflowing and the floor flooded with gravy and veggies, he was shocked to see what was in front of him. The customer spoke to the manager who informed that the restaurant had an ongoing pest control project. To which the customer asked what was the need to serve customers during a pest control project. Moreover, he revealed that the noodles served to him didn’t have tofu or taste of sriracha.
Redditors took to the comment section to share their opinions on the video. A person called the restaurant “filthy”. Another remarked that they’ve had a look at the cloud kitchen and were appalled at the condition of its affairs. Others opined that many restaurants in India had similar unhygienic kitchens.
Restaurant Gives Clarification
Meanwhile, Meraki Chinese took to its official social media handles to give a clarification. As per the restaurant, the customer forcefully walked into the kitchen with a camera, during cleaning hours a month ago. Moreover, the footage was taken without consent. The restaurant team refuted the claims about its unhygienic affairs. It reassured its customers about strictly adhering to FSSAI norms. It ended the statement by thanking its patrons for their trust.
