After making its mark in Qatar and the UAE, with excellent recommendations for diners, the Michelin Guide is finally headed to Saudi Arabia. This would be the inaugural list of restaurants in the kingdom by the prestigious food guide, which is known for its excellent recommendations around the globe. It’s set to be unveiled in three stages, and here’s all you need to know about this development.
Michelin Guide Saudi Arabia To Be Unveiled This Year
The Michelin Guide Saudi Arabia will focus on the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. This is an inaugural list of restaurants by the prestigious food guide, and it will be revealed for the first time in the kingdom. To be revealed in three stages, these would be on October 15, November 15, and December 15. In fact, as mentioned in a report by The National, this guide has mentioned that the kingdom has been explored by their anonymous inspectors. These independent inspectors have identified the most outstanding dining establishments through their exploration.
On What Criteria Is This List Made?
In case you’re wondering on what basis these Michelin stars are awarded, it’s actually based on the quality of food. It uses the long-standing approach of the Michelin Guide, wherein anonymous inspectors assess the restaurant on the basis of five criteria. These are as follows:
- Quality of the ingredients
- Mastery of cooking techniques
- Harmony of flavours
- Personality of the chef as reflected through the cuisine
- Consistency over time and through the menu
What Do These Stars Mean?
Coming to the Michelin stars, these are awarded to restaurants for their high-quality cooking. These restaurants are worth stopping for people! Two Michelin stars stand for excellent cooking that you will want to take a detour for. While three Michelin stars are given to those who offer exceptional cuisine, which is worth a special journey.
The guide is coming to Saudi Arabia after arriving in Dubai in June 2022, which was followed by Abu Dhabi in November. It was just recently that the Michelin Guide Doha was published back in 2024.
