Bengaluru is resplendent with #PeakBengaluruMoments— moments of awe, bewilderment and amusement that only happen in the Silicon Valley of India. Yet again, in another surprising incident, a resident of Bengaluru shared an anecdote of meeting a software engineer in the city who moonlights as an auto driver on the weekends.

Techie In Bengaluru Works As Part-Time Auto Driver To Fight Loneliness

Venkatesh Gupta, a Bengalurean took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an unusual encounter with an auto driver in the city. His auto driver is seen donning a Microsoft hoodie in the picture shared by the X user. In the caption, Venkatesh shares, that he met a 35-year-old staff software engineer at Microsoft driving a Namma Yatri auto to combat loneliness on the weekends.

His post went viral, garnering over 251.9K views and 194 comments. While it’s not a new thing to spot techies dabbling as taxi drivers or auto drivers, it is concerning to see a person moonlighting out of loneliness. Earlier, a techie was seen riding a Rapido bike after he was laid off from his previous job. Working as a Rapido driver was a way for him to get job leads for a new role as a Java developer.

Venkatesh’s post sparked a debate in the comments section. Some Netizens speculated if the X user came to the conclusion about his job role only because of the Microsoft hoodie. Others empathised with the man’s loneliness and prodded him to take a side job.
