Al Ahsa will soon have another reason to draw visitors. Thai hotel operator Dusit International has signed an agreement with Al Ghadeer Group to manage a new resort in the Al Ahsa oasis, with doors set to open in 2027.
Dusit Signs Deal For New Resort In Al Ahsa, Opening 2027
Al Ahsa is not just farmland. It is home to underground springs, caves, lakes, and millions of date palms. In 2018, it made the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the Guinness Book of Records lists it as the world’s largest palm oasis. Locals often call it Saudi Arabia’s “green heart.”
Investors have taken note. Both local and international groups are putting money into the area, hoping to build up Al Ahsa as more than an agricultural hub.
What The Hotel Will Bring
The new property, branded dusitD2 Al Ahsa, will sit close to landmarks like Al Qarah Mountain and the old Qaisariah Souq. It will take about half an hour to reach Al Ahsa’s airport and an hour and a half from Dammam.
The hotel is planned with 120 suites. Rooms will range from one to three bedrooms. Each will have a terrace and its own plunge pool. The layout, by El Ghoneimi Architects in Cairo, is said to borrow design notes from the desert and the nearby mountains.
Facilities on offer
Beyond the rooms, the project includes a wellness centre, meditation areas, yoga spaces, and a large outdoor swimming pool. There will also be a kids’ pool and a club for children.
Food outlets will cover an all-day restaurant and a café in the lobby for lighter meals. For events, the property will offer a 1,500-square-metre ballroom, several meeting rooms, and an outdoor lawn suited for weddings or corporate gatherings.

Dusit in Saudi Arabia
The company already has one hotel under development in Riyadh — the Dusit Princess Al Majma’ah, which is expected to open later this year. Al Ahsa will be its second confirmed property in the Kingdom.
Executives say the deal fits with Saudi Arabia’s wider tourism strategy. Also, it benefits the rising profile of the Eastern Province as a destination.
For residents and travellers alike, it means that by 2027 the oasis could be seen not only as a heritage site but also as a home to one of the region’s new luxury resorts.
