Let’s face it, finding something new to entertain the kids during half term isn’t always rocket science; sometimes it’s harder. But this October, Expo City Dubai has an answer that’s as fun for grown-ups as it is for little explorers. Enter the Alif Galactic Adventure, a two-weekend festival that transforms Alif, Expo City’s cutting-edge space pavilion, into a cosmic playground of science, imagination, and hands-on fun.

Running on 11–12 and 18–19 October 2025, from 10 AM to 6 PM, the adventure celebrates International Space Week with a line-up that’s more NASA-meets-neighbourhood than dusty classroom science. Tickets are just AED 50 per person, adults pay the same as kids and they include full access to the Alif attraction itself, which normally costs double. Value and inspiration in one ticket? Not bad at all.
Expect Rockets, Simulators, And Out-of-This-World Creativity
So, what’s cooking or should we say blasting off? First up, the Hydro Rocket Workshop lets kids launch water-powered rockets into the sky. It’s chaotic, noisy, and honestly, a brilliant way to sneak some physics into playtime without anyone noticing.
Older teens can level up with the Ultimate Hydro Boost Experience, a parachute workshop that simulates rocket launch and safe landings, essentially a crash course in the reality of space missions without the actual crash.
For those with astronaut dreams, the Space Docking Simulator is a real gem. It challenges visitors to dock with the International Space Station under timed conditions. Stressful? A little. Fun? Absolutely.
Creativity isn’t left behind either. The Nebula Art sessions invite families to paint colourful cosmic clouds inspired by Hubble images, while Asteroid Modelling lets you sculpt your own rocky world, craters and all. Truth be told, parents might enjoy these just as much as their kids.
Games, Storytelling And Cosmic Chess
Not everything is about rockets and rovers. The festival also blends in slower, more imaginative activities. Take the Stellar Evolution Chess Contest: a clever twist where chess pieces evolve from nebulae to black holes, teaching players about the life cycle of stars while they battle it out on the board. To be fair, it’s one of those activities where strategy fans might get hooked quickly.
For younger ones, there are cosy storytelling corners and colouring stations. Because, come on, not every five-year-old wants to wrestle with aerodynamics, but most love a good story about stars and astronauts.

Why It’s Worth The Trip
In practice, the Alif Galactic Adventure isn’t just an event; it’s a gentle reminder that learning doesn’t have to feel like schoolwork. With guided tours running every half hour, families are eased into Alif’s immersive exhibition before diving into workshops and challenges that spark curiosity at every turn.
And here’s the kicker: at just AED 50, it’s one of the most wallet-friendly family days out in Dubai this season. Whether you’re raising a future rocket scientist or just hunting for a half-term adventure that doesn’t feel like the usual routine, this cosmic celebration deserves a spot in your diary.
Come October, you won’t need a spaceship to explore the stars. Expo City is bringing the universe to your doorstep.
