Qatar is trying to modernise the Hajj experience in a way that actually sounds useful. The country has launched a new award encouraging local Hajj campaigns to build smarter apps for pilgrims ahead of the 1447 AH season. The focus is less about flashy tech and more about practical things people genuinely need while travelling. Registration help, camp locations, and religious guidance. and quick updates. Also, direct communication when something changes unexpectedly.

2.Burj Khalifa Glows In Azerbaijan’s Flag Colours For Independence Day

Dubai’s skyline had another one of its “wait, look at that” moments this week after the Burj Khalifa lit up in Azerbaijan’s national colours for Independence Day celebrations. Blue, red and green covered the tower while crowds gathered around Downtown Dubai filming the display on their phones.

4. Indian Expat Returns AED100,000 Found In Dubai Parking Lot

An Indian expat in Dubai found AED100,000 lying in a parking lot and handed it directly to police instead of keeping it. Mohammed Ali Sherakal Mohi reportedly photographed the cash and location before taking it to Al Raffa Police Station. Authorities later traced the money back to a businessman who accidentally dropped part of the cash after leaving a bank. Police managed to reunite him with the missing money within hours.

5. Kano Officials Raise Concerns Over Pilgrims’ Treatment During Hajj 2026

Officials from Nigeria’s Kano State criticised the handling of pilgrims during this year’s Hajj journey in Saudi Arabia. Complaints included delayed Nusuk cards, poor meals and disrupted travel schedules. The Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Mohammad Mahraz, said some Kano pilgrims arrived late in Madinah and were quickly moved to Makkah, leaving them with very little time for prayers and religious activities. He urged authorities to improve planning for return flights and future pilgrim arrangements.

6. Ancient Karnak Discovery Shows Roman Emperor Dressed As Egyptian Pharaoh

Archaeologists at Karnak Temple in Luxor uncovered a sandstone slab showing Roman Emperor Tiberius dressed in full Egyptian pharaoh style. Instead, he appeared wearing Egypt’s traditional double crown while standing before important Egyptian gods. The discovery is around 2,000 years old and gives historians another reminder that rulers often adapted themselves to local beliefs to strengthen power.

7. Turkish Airlines Sees Record Eid Rush Despite Rising Fuel Costs

While airlines globally continue struggling with rising fuel costs linked to tensions involving Iran, Turkish Airlines is somehow preparing for one of its busiest travel days ever. The airline expects more than 305,000 passengers during the Eid travel rush, with nearly 1,900 flights operating through Turkish Airlines and AJet. But Eid travel demand across the region always seems to find a way of overpowering airport stress somehow.

8. Kim Jong-kook Says He Almost Got Scammed During Dubai Trip

South Korean celebrity Kim Jong-kook revealed he almost got tricked into paying twice during a buggy activity in Dubai. According to him, staff insisted payment had not gone through even though it already had. Thankfully, a friend checked the booking details before things went further.

9. Ras Al Khaimah Parks Fill Up With Families During Eid Break

Families across Ras Al Khaimah spent the first day of Eid Al Adha outdoors as the emirate’s parks and recreational spaces saw thousands of visitors enjoying the holiday atmosphere. 13 public parks and beachside facilities were filled with visitors, as many residents opted for open-air celebrations instead of indoor ones. Saqr Park was a popular choice, with 1,500 to 3,000 visitors daily, due to its vast open spaces and family-friendly amenities. Newly opened Al Rifaa Park also saw strong turnout from nearby communities during the festive break. 

10. Etihad Launches Collectible Arabic Coffee Cups For First Class Travellers

Etihad Airways launched a limited-edition Arabic coffee cup collection for First Class travellers. The small finjans are inspired by Emirati hospitality and each one represents destinations connected through the airline’s network. Passengers can also track their collection through the Etihad app.
