Recently, the Dubai Municipality opened three new integrated community market projects. These are for workers in the areas of Muhaisnah 2, Al Quoz Industrial Area 3 and Al Quoz 4. In fact, there is even a fourth market which is scheduled to open in the coming weeks in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1. As revealed in a report of the Gullf News, Dubai Municipality has opened these markets, which span over 69,000 m². They form a part of the authority’s effort to offer a safe, organised, and accessible environment, meeting the daily needs of the workers. Not to mention, these markets also offer them essential services along with recreational amenities and sports facilities, all of which happen to be close to their accommodation.
It Supports Many Facilities
Offering a combination of affordable essential goods along with everyday services, there are many facilities that are supported at the market. In fact, each of these markets has eight service categories, which include consumer goods, barber shops, fruit and vegetable outlets, food kiosks, meat & fish shops, tailoring services, health awareness & community activity spaces, and sports facilities.

There Are 866 Stalls At These Markets
It should be noted that these markets, as mentioned by the municipality, feature 866 kiosks and stalls. With these facilities being close to the workers’ accommodation, it supports food safety, community engagement and public health. It should be noted that the initiative has benefited over 6,40,000 workers. In a post on X, it was revealed that this has a recorded 99% satisfaction rate. Not only this, but it has also supported 69 community events and attracted over 800,000 attendees.
With the municipality working towards ensuring its compliance with health, safety, sustainability requirements and food safety, the community markets fall within approved regulatory frameworks. Not to mention, it also supports the authorities’ sustainable urban planning objectives.
