Dubai Municipality is constantly working towards ensuring that people in the city can live comfortably, and this includes children. So they have announced that the authority will be opening 35 new parks across Dubai this year. This would require an investment of AED348 million, and here’s all you need to know about this massive development coming in from Dubai.
Dubai Municipality To Open 35 New Parks
With the move being in line with the Dubai Parks and Greenery Strategy, the Dubai Municipality has unveiled its plans to open 35 new parks across the Emirate this year. These projects have been aligned with the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030. It should be noted that these parks will span over 3,400 m² and will serve 23 residential communities.
Plans To Develop These Parks As Open, Unfenced Spaces
With the parks being accessible, these are expected to be within five minute walking distance from the surrounding neighbourhood. There are plans to develop these parks as open, unfenced spaces which would integrate similarly with the surrounding community. Not to mention, it would reflect the local identity. The design would incorporate climate-responsive features and resilient infrastructure.
The Initiative Includes Tree Planting, Renewable Energy Solutions & More
With the municipality continuing to accelerate the delivery of public and neighbourhood parks that are in line with the Dubai Parks and Greenery Strategy and Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, it reflects the authority’s commitment towards expanding integrated public spaces. As mentioned by the Gulf News, the initiative also includes tree planting, renewable energy solutions, use of recycled irrigation water, and the deployment of artificial intelligence. As it happens, private sector partners have also been invited for the development and activation of the parks through the public-private partnership.

Football Fields And More
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the parks are designed around five integrated zones. These include childhood play areas, sports facilities for youth and adults, active playgrounds, social & experiential F&B zones, and flexible indoor & outdoor community spaces for events & gatherings. The parks would offer over 60 children’s play areas, 18 football fields, 20 multi-use sports courts, shaded seating, skate areas, running & cycling tracks, open green spaces, picnic areas, water features, and F&B destinations, collectively.
With the announcement, Dubai Municipality continues to move in the direction of delivering 310 new parks and upgrading over 220 existing parks by 2040.
