Emirates Road has been expanded by two more lanes, with the aim of easing congestion on one of the main routes connecting Dubai with Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. The expanded Emirates Road is going to be opened on August 30th. This project increases the number of lanes on the stretch to eight from the existing six. Not to mention, it also raises capacity from 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour! Dubai RTA, in its post, has mentioned how these improvements can also reduce journey time by up to 25% during peak hours.
Newly Expanded Route To Open On August 30th
To put it in perspective for you, this road carries over 2,40,000 vehicles in both directions every day! Connecting Dubai with major roads, residential communities, industrial and logistics areas, it is an important route for commuters and businesses. Moreover, with the latest expansion, it’s worth mentioning that it is a part of the wider plans to improve key roads.
All of this is in response to rising traffic and continued growth of Dubai and surrounding areas. It should be noted that the authority has said that traffic studies, along with expected population and urban roads, are taken into account when the project planning was done.
