Egypt: Free Safety Kits To Be Given To Delivery Workers Under New Campaign

No matter where you live, delivery workers have become a lifeline for the people. Especiall, as they offer quick service, they are truly the backbone of e-commerce economy. Yes, from groceries to high-tech gadgets, these folks deliver a variety of items to one’s doorstep. However, to ensure they are provided professional and social protection in Egypt, the Ministry of Labour has launched a campaign. Called Your Safety Matters, here’s all you need to know about it.

Ministry of Labour Launches ‘Your Safety Matters’ Campaign

Egypt’s Ministry of Labour has launched a nationwide campaign that targets delivery workers in the country. Whether they operate on motorcycles, cars, or bicycles, and are affiliated with digital platforms work independently, they are all covered. In fact, as revealed in a report by Ahramonline, special attention is being given to unregistered and uninsured youth.

Safety Kits To Be Distributed

As a part of the campaign, safety gear, including helmets, reflective vests, masks, gloves, and first aid kits, will be distributed free of charge. These will be given to the workers as a national inspection plan has been launched. The first phase targets workers who are affiliated with no formal employers. Not only the distribution of safety gear, but even a detailed code of conduct and safety guide has been tailored to deliver services and is under development. This will include driving practices, training modules, protective equipment, standards, and workers’ rights.

Promotes Awareness

The campaign also promotes awareness amongst delivery workers. Yes, this is regarding traffic laws and road safety and companies are being encouraged to organise educational seminars. As it happens, the ministry also plans to launch a dedicated hotline and online platform soon. This will be for receiving complaints and enquiries from delivery workers.

So with the campaign supporting delivery workers, it’s bound to make them feel valued.
