As revealed in a report by Gulf News, this ancient mosque was uncovered during the fourth season of archaeological excavation. These excavations were happening at Al Maallamah, which is an ancient mining and archaeological site. It is located on the west side of the residential area. Talking about the mosque, it was built from dressed granite stones. It features an architectural layout which combines simplicity and precision. This is especially true for its design of the mihrab, entrances, and minarets.

The walls here extend 16 m from north to south, and it is 10 m from east to west. There are several adjoining stone rooms, which may have served social and commercial purposes. The area also includes stone areas, structural support and basins. It should be noted that the archaeologist also discovered some artefacts, which included pottery vessels, fragments of soapstone, along with stone tools, pieces of grinding stones, and even pestles. These spectacular finds give us an insight into the daily life and craftsmanship of the settlement here.
