Good News! Oman Extends National ID Validity To 10 Years, Sets Renewal Fee At OMR10

According to a recent development in Oman, citizens will no longer worry about renewing their IDs every five years. And we say so, because authorities have now announced that they are extending the validity of the identity documents for 10 years. Yes, this means the Omani ID will not be valid for up to 10 years, and here’s all you need to know about this development from the Sultanate.

Omani IDs To Be Valid For Up To 10 Years

As revealed by the Inspector General of Police and Customs in the Sultanate, Omani IDs will now be valid for up to 10 years. In fact, a report by Khaleej Times also mentioned that the fee set for the national ID card is OMR10. Not to mention, OMR10 is also for showing or replacement of the national ID card in case it is lost or damaged.

Usable For A Variety Government Services

At this point, it should be noted that Omani ID cards can now be used as a valid type of identification. This is usable for a variety of government and private sector services. As a result, the use of an ID card eliminates the need to present multiple documents. Not to mention, saving the time and efforts of the citizens, the validity of the Omani ID card and passport has been increased to 10 years.
