Middle East Updates
1. Intense Summer Heat Predicted In The UAE
It is expected that the UAE will enter a period of intense summer heat. This would be along with dry conditions from June 7th. It is because the Pleiades star cluster rises above the eastern horizon. This, as a result, marks the start of the Gulf region’s traditional summer season.
2. Operational Readiness Of Rest Areas Of Delivery Areas Confirmed
Full operational readiness of air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders was confirmed by the Dubai RTA. This has been confirmed ahead of the summer season, with the aim of enhancing road safety, while also improving the rider’s quality of life. As such, the maintenance and preparatory works have been completed. These have been done in the key areas of Hessa Street, Oud Metha, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Al Karama and Arjan.
3. Hafeet Rail Launches Rail Track-Laying Operations
Hafeet Rail recently launched rail track-laying operations. It is on the UAE-Oman rail connection project, which marks a major construction milestone. This is for one of the region’s most important cross-border transport projects. It marks the start of track installation, which is an important step towards completing the railway.
4. Air India & Riyadh Air Sign MoU
We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Riyadh Air.
This collaboration marks an important step towards expanding connectivity between India, Saudi Arabia and destinations beyond.

Air India and Riyadh Air recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The airlines aim to develop a strategic partnership which aims to expand connectivity between India, Saudi Arabia, and international destinations. It lays the groundwork for potential interline and codeshare arrangements.

5. Qatar Airways To Raise Operations To Dubai
Qatar Airways recently announced that it is continuing to increase its capacity between Qatar and the UAE. With the aim of gradually expanding frequencies between Doha and Dubai to five daily services from June 5th 2026.
6. Emirates Repurposes 88,000 Kg Of Plastic
Emirates announced that the airline has repurposed over 88,000 kilograms of plastic from Economy Class inflight meal service items. This transforms them into new products for use onboard. The airline collected damaged and unserviceable Economy Class trays, casseroles, snack dishes and bowls. Later, it was transformed into new meal service items, which would contain 25% recycled material.
7. SalamAir Suspends Several Flights

SalamAir recently announced that it has temporarily suspended flights to Kuwait and Lebanon. This follows after regional tensions disrupt air travel. As mentioned in a travel advisory by the airline, flights to Kuwait will be suspended until July 16th and to Beirut it will be suspended until July 17th.
8. Prophet’s Mosque Cooling System Enhanced
The Prophet’s Mosque’s cooling system has been enhanced with 117,000 square meters of white Thassos marble. The marble pieces vary in size, and it forms a part of the architectural design of the mosque. For those who are not aware, these marbles are a key component of its environmental cooling system.
9. Active Summer Initiative Launched In Dubai
Dubai Sports Council recently announced the launch of ‘Active Summer’ initiative. This will be running until August 31st. As mentioned by the Dubai Media Office, it features a wide range of indoor and outdoor sporting events. The programme includes water, marine, snow and mountain sports, arena competitions, and mall races. There are even activities for People of Determination.
10. Hajj Pilgrims From 104 Countries Depart
It was announced by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance that all the guests from 104 countries had departed. They had departed after performing Hajj. They departed from the Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
