If you are a resident in Kuwait and have a habit of throwing leftover food in public places, so that stray animals like cats or birds can feed on them. You might want to stop that habit right away. Well, we say this because now you risk a fine of up to KWD500 under a new rule. With the aim of protecting the environment, the country just rolled out a rule that makes it mandatory to pay a fine of up to KWD500 if you are found guilty of committing this act.

Fine On Throwing Leftover Food For Stray Animals On The Streets

You are no longer allowed to throw leftover food in public places with the motive of feeding the tree animals. Yes, under a new rule launched in Kuwait, throwing such food in public places will put you at the risk of fines of up to KWD500. This is a new law launched under the environmental protection law, as revealed in a report by the Gulf News.

This statement was posted on X by the official account, and said how this practice violates Law No. 42 of 2014. This is on environmental protection as amended by Law No. 99 of 2015. According to Article 13 of the legislation, dumping waste of any kind, which is outside the designated containers, is prohibited. So, when people throw leftover food in public places for such a reason is basically violating the rule.

Why Has This Decision Been Taken?

Many people feed animals as a part of a charitable act, and they tend to throw food in public places. This creates hygiene risks and even poses a risk to health and the environment.
