Supermarkets are the first to be hit when supply chains become tighter. Shelves will empty fast when there is a halt in the movement of fresh produce. In the interest of preventing such a situation, LuLu Group International has acted promptly. To maintain steady food supplies, the retail giant, LuLu has flown about 80,000 kilograms of fresh fruits and vegetables from India to the United Arab Emirates.
Lulu Lifts 80,000kg Of Fruits And Vegetables In India To UAE
According to the report by Gulf News, approximately 12,000 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables produced in farms located in India were transported in the course of the cargo operation. It was delivered in Abu Dhabi by special cargo flights of Etihad Airways.
LuLu could not wait until the regular shipping routes had taken place, hence using a faster route. The business employed chartered cargo aircraft to deliver items that were perishable and hence needed prompt action in order to stock the shelves of the supermarket.
Fruits and vegetables have a short life span. Delay is enough to ruin deliveries and mess up the supply. The transition to air transport enabled LuLu to save time during travelling and maintain the produce market-ready.
Supply Chains Under Pressure
Disruptions in logistics in some regions of the Middle East have cast some doubts on the ease with which food products can cross borders.
Amid the extreme conditions, flights have been limited in certain routes, and shipping lanes have been slowed. That mix poses a threat to the retailers who are overdependent on imported food products.
Such companies as LuLu rely on stable international supply chains. Fruits and vegetables have to be delivered quickly, fresh and in great quantities to support the demand in the supermarkets every day.
This airlift serves as a buffer, and customers do not miss their usual grocery items even in the case of uncertainty in a region.

India Has Been A Major Source Of Food
India is a significant player in the fresh food network of LuLu. The farms in the country offer varieties of fruits and vegetables, which can be found daily on the UAE supermarket shelves.
LuLu has also confirmed that additional cargo shipments are already being planned in the coming days.
For UAE residents, that means fewer surprises during grocery runs and stocked aisles despite regional disruptions.
