The Sultanate of Oman has announced a five-day holiday for its employees. These are for those in public and private sectors across the Sultanate. Yes, this is for the observances of Arafat Day and Eid al-Adha as revealed by the Oman News Agency, and we are here to tell you all about this.

Oman Announces Eid al-Adha Holidays

The Eid al-Adha holiday in Oman will begin on Tuesday, May 26th. It corresponds to the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH, and the official working hours will resume on Sunday, May 31st. This announcement comes after Monday, which was May 18th, was the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah in several GCC countries. This means Eid al-Adha was going to begin on Wednesday, May 27th.

For those who are wondering, it is one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar, and it coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which takes place in Saudi Arabia. In fact, it is traditionally marked by prayers, family gatherings, and charitable activities across the region.

UAE Also Announces Holidays

Not just Oman, but recently the UAE also announced its holidays for the public sector. Yes, it announced that Eid al-Adha would run from Monday, May 25th, until Friday, May 29th. The normal working hours would resume on June 1st. It also announced the Eid holidays for the private sector quite recently. Yes, it was announced that the break would run from May 26th until Friday, May 29th. And the normal working hours would resume on Monday, June 1st.

This development comes after the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced recently that May 18th marked the start of Dhu Al Hijjah.
