Are you an artist, a writer, or have a creative career? Do you wish to move abroad with your skills? Well, Oman has an offer to make! If you have an existing creative career or are planning to make one, Oman’s new visa update is here to make it even better. In a move that’s got the global creative community talking, the Sultanate of Oman has expanded its cultural visa to include artists and writers and with the inclusion of their spouses and relatives. Yep, your family can now join you on your creative journey in Oman.
Oman’s Cultural Visa Is A Bold Step For The Artists Community
Basically, Oman understands it’s difficult to carry on with your life in a new country when your family is left behind. So, let’s track the trail of this update. Oman first introduced its 10-year cultural visa back in 2023. This opened its doors to international creatives. Now, with this expansion, the Sultanate wants to be more than a stopover for visiting artists. It’s asking the artists to call Oman their home.
The Oman News Agency confirmed to Gulf News that the new decision adds several visa and residency categories to this broader framework of foreign entry and stay. It’s a structured, thought-out expansion that gives space to creators and their families who support and inspire them.
Here’s How It Works
Under the new system, foreign nationals entering Oman for cultural work can apply for a Cultural Visa. Once approved by the Omani cultural authority, they’ve got three months to use it. Then comes the Joining Visa, a new addition that allows spouses and first-degree relatives to come along.
For those already living in the country, Oman has also rolled out Cultural Residency Permits. It extends legal residency for those involved in cultural activities. And yes, there’s a Joining Residency Permit too, ensuring family members can stay legally.

A Boost For Oman’s Creative Vision
Oman is setting the stage for long-term creative investment by inviting families to stay with the working artist. This new update is in alignment with the Oman Vision 2040. Oman is focusing on community, culture, and creativity, making it an increasingly attractive place for people with creative careers.
