Prince William Explores AlUla’s Heritage & Nature Reserve On His Last Day Of Saudi Visit

Prince William’s official first-visit to Saudi Arabia has come to an end. To wrap up his three-day trip, he took a tour of AlUla’s most treasured landmarks. The Prince of Wales spent his final day taking in the governorate’s rich mix of history, culture, and wild desert beauty.

According to a report by Saudi Gazette, he was joined by Prince Badr bin Abdullah, Minister of Culture and Governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla. He explored the key sites, reflecting the Kingdom’s cultural revival and environmental drive.

AlUla stands at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s heritage strategy and plays a major role in Vision 2030.

Inside Sharaan Nature Reserve

One of the most striking stops was the Sharaan Nature Reserve. Located north of AlUla, the reserve spans nearly 1,500 square kilometres. It is a vast, rugged, and quietly breathtaking site in AlUla.

Officials briefed Prince William on environmental projects aimed at restoring natural habitats and protecting biodiversity. Teams are actively rehabilitating ecosystems that once suffered from overuse and climate pressure.

The Royal Commission for AlUla is conserving the wild by reintroducing animals to the wild. The list of already included species includes Arabian oryx and mountain goats. Key predators like the Arabian leopard are also in the planning stage to return to their native land.

The Prince’s visit underscored shared British and Saudi interest in wildlife protection and sustainable land management.

Walking Through History

AlUla is layered with history. Prince William received a briefing on the Old Town and the historic Incense Route, which was once a major trade corridor linking civilisations and building culture and legacy.

The Prince also toured the AlUla Arts Festival 2026, viewing contemporary works set against ancient backdrops. The event reflects growing cooperation between Saudi and British cultural institutions.

Investing In the Next Generation

Prince William met young Saudis at AlUla Cultural Oasis, where discussions centred on education, creativity, and future leadership. Both countries see youth development as essential to long-term partnership. When skills grow, so do ties.

A Strengthened Saudi-British Partnership

The Prince departed from AlUla International Airport, seen off by Emir of Madinah Prince Salman bin Sultan and senior officials. This trip was not just a ceremonial tour but it reinforced a relationship that continues to grow in scope and ambition.
