Saudi Arabia: Flash Flood Warnings Issued As The Kingdom Braces For Heavy Rain!

As per the reports of the National Centre of Meteorology, a forecast for moderate to heavy rainfall has been made for Saudi Arabia. As a result, places across the country have been warned of stormy conditions. And these are to persist until the middle of next week. Amid heavy rain predictions, flash flood warnings have also been issued.

NCM Predicts Heavy Rainfall

Authorities have said that several regions will experience widespread rain. In fact, as per the reports of Gulf News, the highlands of Jazan, Asir, Al Bahah, and Mecca are expected to receive the heaviest rainfalls. In fact, parts of Riyadh and Najran can also see some light or moderate showers. In fact, widespread rain is expected in the regions of Jazan, Mecca, Asir, Tabuk, Al Baha, and Medina.

Several Regions To Receive Rain

So with several cities expected to be affected by rain, people have been asked to be careful. Residents have been urged to remain indoors when possible. Not to mention, they have been asked to avoid valleys or flood-prone areas, as there could be flash floods. It is important that they stay away from swimming in open waters during such heavy storms. Not to mention, the public has also been asked to follow all the official updates. They can do so through the government website and social media channels, and not panic because of false news or rumours.

Such Warnings Were Issued Earlier In August

This warning comes at a time when heavy rains and hail swept across Southern Saudi Arabia. As a result, flash flood warnings were triggered. Moreover, the warnings were also raised to an advanced level in parts of Al Baha and Taif by the NCM. Red alert was also activated in this region after they were reports of intense thunderstorms and hazardous conditions.

So, if you are someone who lives in Saudi Arabia, you might want to stay indoors to stay safe from the unstable weather conditions.
