If you’re in Saudi Arabia this weekend, keep an umbrella close and your plans flexible. The General Directorate of Civil Defence has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and possible flash floods across most parts of the Kingdom, running from Friday, November 6 until Tuesday, November 10. Heavy rain, hail and strong winds are all part of the forecast. The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has named specific areas, listed below.

What Civil Defence Is Asking Residents To Do

People should stay in safe locations, keep away from valleys and anywhere floodwater collects, and avoid swimming in floodwaters. Residents are also asked to follow official safety instructions shared through media outlets and social media, as unstable conditions are expected to affect large parts of the country over the next five days. Rapidly rising water can endanger both motorists and pedestrians, the authority said.

Mecca Region: Moderate To Heavy Rain

The NCM expects moderate to heavy rainfall in the Mecca region, with the risk of flash floods, hailstorms and strong downdrafts that kick up dust. Areas on the list include Taif, Mecca, Jeddah, Rabigh, Al Qunfudhah and Al Lith, along with Maysan, Adham, Al Ardiyat, Al Kamil, Al Jumum, Bahrah, Khulais, Turbah, Al Khurmah, Ranyah and Al Muwayh.

Riyadh Region: What To Expect

Parts of the Riyadh region face a similar forecast of moderate to heavy rain, flash floods, hail and dust-raising winds. That covers Afif, Al Dawadmi, Shaqra, Thadiq, Al Ghat, Zulfi, Al Majmaah, Rumah and Marrat. The capital itself, along with Al Quwayiyah, Al Rayn, Dhurma, Al Hariq and Al Kharj, is expected to see light to moderate rain.

Nine More Regions On Alert

Moderate to heavy rain is also forecast for Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Medina, Hail, Qassim, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders and the Eastern Province. Flash floods and hail are possible in these regions too, and strong downdrafts may cut visibility through blowing dust.

Staying Safe While It Lasts

Civil Defence has repeated its core message: avoid valleys and flood channels during heavy rain. Until the warning ends on November 10, check official weather updates before you travel, and plan around the forecast if you’re heading to any of the regions above. That matters most if you are driving between cities, since conditions can change quickly from one region to the next. Official updates from Civil Defence and the NCM will carry any changes to the warning.
