Sharjah has done it again and is solemnly honouring its origins. The new Fili Heritage Project, which is situated in the Central Region of Sharjah. It is not a dazzling tourist spot created to be photographed. It is a place of residence where history, neighbourhood life and daily culture collide without much ado.

What Is The Fili Heritage Project About That’s Reopened In Sharjah?

It was announced that the project was actually opened by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, on Sunday morning. It further supports the existing tradition of the emirate to keep Emirati heritage deliberately.

Rashid Al Madhani, the engineer and the Project Manager of the Fili Heritage Project at Sharjah Initiatives Implementation Authority Mubadara, stated that it is not just tourism.

This is a project that is aimed at restoring regional memory. It recalls people to narratives, places, and customs that defined everyday life in the olden days. The project is not a recreation of history, but rather a restoration and respect of what has already existed.

Rebuilding Fili Fort The Authentic Way

The central feature of the site is Fili Fort, which is now well restored following an extensive restoration procedure.

The restoration team used to be based on materials used during the construction procedure (stone and burnt clay), to restore the fort to its original state. It was a rigorous reconstruction that preserved the architectural character of the fort and made it a fort to be remained firm for the coming generations.

A Traditional Souq That Helps Local People

The project also has a heritage market consisting of 16 shops constructed in the traditional architectural style of the Emirati people. These stores serve the needs of local dealers and small enterprises, making trade still part of community-based commerce.

Knowledge, Leisure, And Coffee With A Story

Families here have a petting farm that provides a secure and educational environment where kids can play with animals. It is non-complicated, practical and invigorating in a screen-dominated world. Then there is the coffee house that narrates the history of coffee, both as a part of Emirati hospitality and its origin.
