It was recently reported that a massive landslide in the western Darfur region of Sudan flattened an entire mountain village. As A result, over 1000 people have been killed. With just one survivor emerging from the site of a natural disaster. Here’s what happened in the region.

1,000 People Killed Under Devastating Landslide In Sudan

According to a report by the Gulf News, it was mentioned how a massive landslide in the western region flattened an entire mountain village. As a result, many people were killed, with just one survivor emerging from the site. This disaster struck on Sunday after several days of heavy rainfall. And so, the village of Tarasin, which is in the Marra Mountains, was devastated.

As it happens, according to the initial information, all the villagers have been killed due to this devastating tragedy. Yes, the region has seen a massive and destructive landslide, which has completely destroyed a part of it. For those who aren’t aware, it is known for citrus production, and there is an appeal to the United Nations and other aid organisations for help without recovering the dead. Especially those who are still buried under the dirt and debris!

As a result, much of Darfur, including the area where this landslide occurred, remains quite inaccessible. With the situation continuing to be tense, the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance is also quite difficult. and with just one lone survior emerging from the site, one can only imagine the devastation caused.

With the village completely levelled, it’s truly a heartbreaking tragedy wherein many people have lost their lives. This news comes at a time when several regions across the world are facing devastating floods. From India and Pakistan to the recent Texas flood, which occurred the previous month, such instances are causing quite widespread devastation and destruction of life and property.
