After a plethora of news and updates on the new museum in Abu Dhabi, finally the opening date is revealed. Yes, Zayed National Museum is finally opening its doors to the public in December 2025. It is finally time to experience the history, heritage and values of the UAE under one roof. The museum is located in the Saadiyat Cultural District and pays tribute to Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. 

Zayed National Museum Opens Dec 3, 2025

According to a report by Gulf News, the Zayed National Museum will open on December 3rd 2025. It will consist of six permanent galleries. From one temporary exhibition space to an outdoor gallery, this museum offers rich insight into the foundation of the UAE. A 300,000-year-old stone tool has been placed at the museum, which was discovered at Jebel Hafit in Al Ain. Similarly, there are multiple galleries that will tell a tale about the history and legacy of the region 

Inside the Galleries

What is this gallery about? Well, they have Our Beginning, To Our Ancestors, Through Our Connections, By Our Coasts, To Our Roots, and Al Masar Garden on display. From the origin to the present time, this exhibition will make you live the region’s evolution. For a better understanding, they have put together how early settlements were formed, the spread of Islam and the language across the region. You’ll also witness traditional Emirati lifestyles here. Everything shows the deep connection of HH Sheikh Zayed to the land’s natural beauty. 

Artefacts That Tells Different Stories

Zayed National Museum, on opening, will be home to 3,000 artefacts. Expect to see 1.500 pieces on display round the clock. Not just artefacts, the museum will also host film screenings, workshops, and live performances to talk about the cultural & heritage of the region. So you visit to this amazing museum is not limited to taking a stroll and glancing around. 

Who Has Designed The Museum?

Well, this artistic building is a brainchild of Foster + Partners. As mentioned in Gulf News, the structure was inspired by the wing of a falcon in flight. The company has not just focused on design elements but also on how to include sustainability at its heart of the project.

Dining and Accessibility

Talking about sustainability, the museum blends traditional cooling techniques with modern technology to support eco-friendliness.

Tired of walking around? Well, take a break and grab a bite at the cafes and restaurants present in the museum. From a bite at Emirati restaurant Erth to grabbing a coffee at Al Ghaf Cafe, or relaxing at the Garden Cafes, choose your ideal spot. Apart from this, Zayed National Museum will be the first cultural institution in the Middle East to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme.
