Recently, the Dubai RTA launched the Zhongtong electric bus, which is the first-of-its-kind to be operated on the roads of Dubai. As it happens, it has been tailor-made to see the operational conditions in Dubai, and can complete services without returning to the depot for recharging. After all, it covers an operating range of 280 km on a single charge!
Zhongtong Electric Buses
With the Zhongtong electric buses having a battery capacity of 434 kilowatt-hours, these are supported by the ABB chargers and rated 360 kilowatts. As revealed in a post by the Dubai RTA, the procurement of the new buses is a part of an integrated strategic plan. This was developed by the Dubai RTA advanced emirate’s public transport system. This would be in line with the global practices.
More Electric Buses In Future
It should be noted that the plan seeks to deliver the highest standards of service to the public. As it happens, in the near future, there will be a significant increase in the number of electric buses that will operate across Dubai. This is in line with the national direction, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint.
Not to mention, they also aim to achieve climate neutrality with these efforts. The aim is to support the Dubai RTA’s zero-emission public transport strategy 2050. The aim is to convert all the buses, taxis, and limousine vehicles into zero-emission operations. As the RTA receives two new buses, these include electric ones, and this is under the 735-bus contract.

Rapid Progress On Hessa Street Development Project
This development for the buses comes at a time when Dubai RTA is also making rapid progress on the Hessa Street Development Project. They are ensuring a smoother and safer journey for everybody through the widening of Al Khail and Al Asayel Streets. They also aimed to provide free-flow routes linking corridors. So, with the ongoing work, road capacity would be enhanced so that it meets the growing population hits of Dubai.
The RTA is doing everything in its power to ensure that people can travel smoothly without any problem.
